We can’t say we can predict the future, but the designers that have showcased their collections sure can, and what they have in store for us might just keep us on our toes! The richness expected from 2019 trends is definitely on deck, but unexpected shades are changing how people consider their looks. While this year's obsessions may have still been Millennial pinks, fire-engine reds and the occasional infusion of lemon yellow, next year will be all about the contrast between dark and light.
Layers are everywhere at the moment, but sometimes it’s hard to look on trend without looking bulky. However if you get it right, you’ll look well put together and effortlessly chic – not to mention you’ll be prepared for the unpredictable cold weather. So if you need to take off a layer for an unexpected sunny afternoon you can!
Since its red carpet heyday in the 1990’s, the slip dress trend has made an iconic comeback. We know that the slip dress isn’t an easy one to pull off. With its silky figure hugging design, it can be quite daunting trying to wear a dress which quite frankly looks like lingerie. Combine a short slip dress with an oversized shirt or blazer and top it off with a trilby hat to really set yourself apart from the crowd.
Luckily, this isn’t one of those trends that you’ll have to wait until next March to start wearing. Fall is the perfect time to get a jumpstart on fringe fever. The beauty of the trend is that it isn't something that's exclusively for cold weather, as it's a detail that can feasibly be added to pieces that are relevant to any season—handbags, dresses, and outerwear included. Plus, they can take on many forms, from leather to yarn to metallic to beaded to denim.
Leave woolen onesies to the runway, and interpret this trend with thick cardigans, slouchy crewnecks, or slinky dresses. The pieces have interesting texture and are still fetching. Relaxed shouldn't mean sloppy, so add smart oxford shoes or elegant heels to give the look some polish. Designers aren't afraid to supersize, but giant styles can sometimes swallow the silhouette. Temper the volume of a large turtleneck with fitted trousers or a pencil skirt.
There is a lot of mixing and matching and even quilting of many patterns to keep the fall 2018 prints exciting, and no shortage of bright colors to show up unexpectedly through the fall and winter season. The charm of many of the prints is as captivating as any of them, and the induction of these prints into the upcoming trends is more than justified, as you’ll see. Another of the great factors of the new pattern trends is the ways and materials that they are featured on covering everything from fur and wool to nylon and lycra.
